FAUX Stone ~Frescoed Paneled Ceilings

~ Faux Stone and Concrete looks for your living space~ By Meranda Snyder

The possibilities are endless creating these looks yourself. These pictures were taken in Colburg, Ontario CANADA in their historical down town area.

You can create your own look by using foam and securing it to the wall. Concrete is very heavy, but can be applied in a thin coat to any surfaces. Using a concrete mix or mortar patch, trowel on the concrete , roughing up the top as you would see in stone as the concrete dries. Concrete is porous, so it requires a sealant to make it waterproof and easy to clean. Using Paint and Glaze you can achieve the real look of stone. The best tip is to look at real stone and make your color choices off of real stone colors. After finding your base coat, you will want to create depth with layering on glaze, "rubbing off" and "sponging" faux techniques that will give you the true look of real stone. Some recourses are listed below.

Patterns for the Imagination! ~ Checker board Style Flooring~ Painted Wood Floors ~

This was my previous apartment. The flooring was simple old-style parquet flooring which is the simplest type of flooring to paint, as you already have your lines marked out for you. With scotch tape, one night my before we moved in, my husband and I taped off the floors and stained the sections a dark mahogany. I had so many compliments on it. I would never go back to carpet again! I find that I need some sort of pattern on the walls or floors, otherwise it bores me in no time. I am guessing if you looked up this site, you are the same way!

Enjoy some fantastic pictures below. I hope you get some great ideas for your project.

WHO ELSE But Debbie Travis!

I can no longer catch her show on tv here in the US. My one and only show I would watch on painting. She is the queen of painting. The very best of the best. She is the one person in the decorating business I would love to meet ! She also did a show stenciling a floor for a mother who was about to deliver a baby.

The simple checkerboard look, with a blue.

Stunning!

Perfect combination with the cornflower

I am not one for shiny walls, but your floors always look cleaner with gloss.

The floors and ceiling can be as glossy as they come, however if you put a gloss on your walls, you will feel suffocated, unless it is a pattern of some sort, or faux or real marble.

This can be created with wood floors, or painted on floors with a couple top coats of polyurethane. The blue is quite striking.

Painted floors. Looks to be like a light gray stain instead of black combined with a honey stain.
Very soft.

These floors are not placed on an angle, have you noticed.

Black Gilded Hand Painted Furniture- Make it yourself

My Latest design this week~ Black Gilded Furniture!

I bought this Children's chair at auction and painted it to resemble a gilded antique rocking chair.
The picture below is how it turned out. I have it for sale here in Washington DC. It resembles a Federal Style chair that is most commonly found having the gold floral accents.
I added some different styles of painted furniture below for YOUR inspiration. There is so many things you can do with paint....don't you agree?

This is from Feldmanfurniture as well, listed at $1.00, which I think is a mistake for them because I think they can get more.......LOL

Farmer wants a wife

Sparked by the premier show On April 30th " Farmer wants a wife"

10 city girls will compete for the affections of a 29-year-old Missouri farmer named Matt. City girls come to the country in hopes to marry a loyal hard working man. As the girls walk through the charming home with apple green walls and floral prints, it present to them a life they certainly can get used to.

English country home decorating originated with small farming communities and rural cottages, but this style can be taken anywhere.

English country decor is a style that can be casual or rustic or lean towards elegantly formal. Ralph Laurens "Limeade Green" Paint color can give you the effect of stunning apple green walls. Pairing that with prints made of silk will surely give any room the upscale feel of English country.

Furniture and collections in this style usually is very colorful with bright patterns and stripes. This style gives the homeowner the opportunity to display collections such as antique displays, photographs and the variety of things collected and passed down through families. As with Victorian, English country decor encourages a somewhat cluttered but tidy appearance, generously displaying pieces and memorabilia collected over the years.
